Sea Snot

A massive cleanup effort is underway along the coast of Turkey. The government has giant vacuums onshore sucking up a thick layer of sticky goo floating on the water. It’s not oil. It’s marine mucilage – aka sea snot. Polytechnic University of Marche marine biologist Roberto Danovaro has noted an exponential increase in episodes of sea snot in the Mediterranean over the last couple of decades.
