In mid-December, NASA will launch a very large, very powerful telescope into space. The design process has taken decades and cost billions of dollars. Every scientist involved in the project is on pins and needles as the launch approaches because lots of things have to go exactly right for this whole thing to pay off. Marcia Reike is one of those scientists. She’s a professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona who’s designing one of the cameras mounted on the new space telescope.
