A giant heat wave will cover most of the United States this week, with forecasted temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average. Climate researchers are beginning to warn of the growing risk for something called “wet-bulb” conditions which weren’t supposed to be common on the planet until after 2050. But they’re already here in some places. Radley Horton is a climate scientist at Columbia University who has studied the phenomenon. (Segment produced by Sam Faulconer)
