University of Texas-Austin-based social psychologist James Pennebaker is convinced of the power in the simplest words. He says that language like “I,” “we,” “the,” “be,” etc., transmits information about our psychology, and in doing so, can foretell our future. He analyzed a million posts people made on the social media site Reddit. Just from posters’ word choices, he could predict whose relationships were headed for trouble.
