The center of a bovine tuberculosis controversy in Britain is an unlikely figure: an 8-year-old alpaca named Geronimo. There is a law in the UK that animals with tuberculosis must be euthanized. Geronimo tested positive for the disease, but many said the tests were faulty. Thousands protested his impending execution with an online petition and in the streets. Despite the demonstrations, Geronimo was taken into custody and killed. Veterinary surgeon Bon Broadbent, who examined Geronimo, is one of the skeptics of the government's decision.
