Less-Addictive Opioids

Less-Addictive Opioids

Top of Mind with Julie Rose • Season 1, Episode 1657, Segment 2
Aug 4, 2021 • 14m

The trouble with opioids for treating pain is that they don’t just go to the spot in your body where the pain is. If they did that, they’d be less addictive because they wouldn’t be setting off the reward pathways in the brain. Is an opioid drug like that even possible? Austin College chemistry professor Aaron Harrison is working on it.
