The Science Behind Star Wars (00:00) In a galaxy far, far away… men and women fight with blades made out of powerful light beams. They commute to work through space, and some very special people can access the energy that binds the galaxy together… aka the force. Yes, we're talking about Star Wars. In honor of May the 4th tomorrow, we are talking with Maureen Hintz about the scientific possibilities in Star Wars. Meal Prepping Tips (15:37) Preparing our meals in advance is what most of us are striving for…. Just knock it all out in one round and then you don’t have to cook again during the week! We have Andie Ovard on the show today to give us her meal prepping tips and tricks. Andie Ovard is a Registered Dietician Nutritionist. She runs a blog called “The Baking Dietician” where she shares healthy recipes, workouts, and other health and fitness tips. Mental Health Awareness Month (34:49) According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. — experiences mental illness in a given year. Approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8–15, the estimate is 13%. Jennie Dopp, the Development Coordinator for the Utah Parent Center, joins us to talk about ADHD, ADD, and Dyslexia.  Dyslexia (50:35) Millions of people are impacted by mental health every year. As part of Mental Health Awareness month, we want to talk about some disabilities that many children and adults deal with on a daily basis. Jennie Dopp, the Development Coordinator for the Utah Parent Center, joins us to talk about ADHD, ADD, and Dyslexia.  Self-Love and Improvement (1:05:06) Working out. It’s something we all talk about and want to get serious about, but how often do we get discouraged about where we are on our own personal fitness journeys? Sara Hiatt is a mom of 9 who has taken fitness by the reins in the last three years and conquered some of her goals. Her message as a health and nutrition coach encompasses the idea that we should love ourselves now and appreciate what we can already do. It's easy to get discouraged about our goals -- whatever they may be. She joins us today to talk about the importance of loving yourself first, working on improving next, and her own fitness journey.  Star Wars Fandom (1:21:58) ?If you are out and about this weekend and are greeted by someone in a robe with a plastic lightsaber saying "May the Fourth be with you", don't be alarmed or confused. The 4th of May is Star Wars Day, a holiday celebrating the movies and the fans of Star Wars. To get us in the holiday spirit we have our movie and media experts (and Star Wars fans), Jeff Simpson and Cole Wissinger.
