The End of Slavery in the British Empire

The Sam Sharpe rebellion began and ended in Jamaica, soon after Christmas Day in 1831. At the time, the results of the rebellion might have been a disappointment, but reports of the uprising impacted public sentiments toward slavery in Great Britain and eventually helped bring about the end of slavery in the British Empire.
