Cooking the Perfect Brisket (0:00:00) For those who grill or smoke in the summertime, you’ve probably tried cooking the BBQ meat of all BBQ meats: brisket. But it is definitely not an easy meat to master between long hours at the smoker, cutting the meat correctly and getting the rub just right. So with outdoor barbecue season already upon us, how can we master this behemoth of a meal? We’re able to stay connected with old friends, yet we find ourselves comparing our lives to others’. We find new workouts and healthy recipes, yet our mental health often takes a hit. But as we try to use social media positively and without losing our own souls, we also need to be aware of how these giant media platforms might be affecting our kids. Color Theory (0:37:37) Colors surround us. Whenever we choose a color –whether that be for a new car, paints for our home, or just for the pants we’re wearing today –it can feel like a big decision. Will grey feel too bland? Is red too strong? What does lime green say? We stress about making sure the colors we choose portray the right message for the day. She’s an experienced interior designer and spent years teaching these principles to her students. Learning from the Civil Rights Movement (0:52:47) We’ve always heard the phrase “history repeats itself,” and as we’re seeing the current resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, our minds are turning back to the Civil Rights movement—another social movement for black and minority rights. Mermaid Classes (1:31:10)  The first stories of mermaids can be traced all the way back to Assyria in 1000 BC. Since then, mermaids have become a popular part of folklore and culture in numerous civilizations. Thousands of little girls dressed up as Ariel last Halloween, 20 years after 'The Little Mermaid’ originally came out. We are so fascinated with mermaids. So many children, and even adults, wonder what it would feel like to be one. Well now we don’t have to wonder. Joining us today is Marielle Henault, founder and CEO of Aqua Mermaid—a swimming school that teaches students how to swim with a mermaid tail.
