Growing up our parents always told us that reading was the key to success, trying to encourage us to read more. However, recent studies have confirmed that child literacy rates are key indicators for future success. 2/3 students who cannot not read by the 4th grade end up in jail or in the welfare system. But, what happens to students in low-income areas who don’t have access to quality children’s books? Bernie’s Book Bank is an organization located in Chicago, Illinois dedicated to getting quality books into the hands of students who need them most. Here with us today is CEO Darrin Utynek to share with us their mission.
