Enjoying Fall Flowers (0:00:00) We love a good fall mood—the warm candle, crisp weather and the aroma of pumpkin desserts filling the house. But despite all of the classic sights and smells that make fall so great, we still find ourselves craving some sort of freshness. We miss seeing flowers in vases and on bushes outside my window! But just because we’ve entered the fall season, who says we still can’t have beautiful flowers to brighten our day and add to the fall aesthetic? Today, we’ve invited Tellie Hunt, an international florist who specializes in utilizing seasonal plants in her arrangements, on the show to share how we can still enjoy flowers throughout these fall months. Why We Love Zombies (0:15:58) This season is permeated with thoughts of all things creepy. And among the scary movies, the costumes, and the haunted houses, zombies are a common theme throughout them all. But why are zombies so popular? And what is it about them that creeps us out so much? Frank McAndrew is an environmental psychologist who has researched the science of “creepy.” He joins us this morning. Halloween Candy (0:36:54) One thing that hasn’t changed about Halloween this year is the candy. Thank goodness! There’s nothing like a good Reese’s peanut butter cup to lift one’s spirits.  While some candy is scary good, others are less appealing. But it’s hard to tell just from the packaging which ones are going to be popular with the kids and which ones aren’t. So, we invited Matt Rozen from the blog and YouTube channel, Candy Gurus, on the show today to tell us all about the tastiest Halloween candies to buy this year! And which ones to avoid... A Scary Story (0:54:57) Sam Payne, of BYU Radio’s The Apple Seed, tells us a scary story to get us ready for Halloween tomorrow. Weekend Review (1:27:42) Lisa and Richie talk about what there is to do this weekend, from the New York Times Bestseller List to the new shows coming to streaming services to what’s happening in your community.
