There is some evidence that serious cases of COVID-19 can do lasting damage to a person’s brain, and so can the time a person spends in an ICU bed, sedated, and connected to a ventilator. Doctors and psychiatrists are beginning to see cases of what they are calling “COVID PTSD.” Erin Kaseda is a Ph.D. candidate in psychology at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and she just published a paper on this phenomenon.
