Children’s LiteratureTop of Mind with Julie Rose • Season 1, Episode 1672, Segment 5
Aug 25, 2021 • 15m
When Sailaja Joshi was pregnant with her first child, she realized that her daughter would have a difficult time finding herself in children’s books because she’s Indian. More often than not, children’s literature isn’t representative of all races and cultures. So Sailaja decided to start her own publishing company to change things. It’s called Mango and Marigold Press, and it’s dedicated to telling South Asian stories and closing literacy gaps. (Segment produced by Aubrey Johnson)
