Life moves fast! With the stresses of work, kids going through school, and the unexpected emergencies that pop up sooner or later, we may reach a ripe old age and realize we have nothing planned for the rest of our lives! On average, people are living longer, so how do we find the time in our busy lives to plan for the future so that when we're retired and the kids are gone we can do what we enjoy with all the extra time that we have? We'll talk with Barbara Ballinger and Margaret Crane, authors of the book “Not Dead Yet” about what we can do now to enjoy life later!
Gaming Addiction
As parents, it can be easy to over worry about what our kids are getting up to. As kids grow up, they start to find new hobbies and interests from their friends, one of the biggest being video games. It can be hard as a parent when your child asks for the first time if they can start playing video games. There is so much negative information about the effects, but is it truly all bad? How can you know you’ll prevent your kids from becoming sucked in and addicted to the world of gaming? Today we are talking with Dr. Amanda Giordano, an associate professor of counseling, as well as the author of the clinical reference book, "A Clinical Guide to Treating Behavioral Addictions."

You can’t be online with your kid all the time and the nature of education is becoming more digital every day. So, with that in mind, it’s hard not to be concerned about your kids on the internet. What kinds of dangers do they face and what can you do to help them stay clear of them? To help us find some solutions is returning guest and friend of the show, Carrie Ann Rhodes. She’s our resident expert on all things hearth and home and she's with us today to give parents ideas on how to teach and implement internet literacy at any age.
