The 51st State

Puerto Rico has been a US territory since 1917, which means that while Puerto Ricans are US citizens and subject to US laws, they can’t vote in national elections. Puerto Ricans have swung back and forth between whether or not they want state hood over the past few years. Last November, however, Puerto Rico voted to make the move to statehood. So our question is now that the votes been cast, what happens next before the 50 states of America becomes the 51 states?
