Close to half a million children in the United States are currently in foster care and the majority of them are not living with a relative. Sixto Cancel used to be one of them. He spent his entire childhood bouncing from one foster home to another, separated from his siblings, and subjected to abuse and neglect in the system. Now, he’s the founder of the nonprofit organization, Think of Us, which is working to reform foster care.
