1 in 6 children in the United States struggle with food insecurity, meaning that it’s an issue nationwide. Many of these children rely on school lunches as their main source of food, but go hungry on the weekends. So today we’re talking with Dawn Hawkins, the director of Backpack Buddies, which is a program that seeks to provide food-insecure children with food to take home on the weekends.
