While it is no longer socially acceptable for white actors to portray characters of color, abled people often still take the roles of disabled characters. Not only is this acceptable, but abled actors are often applauded for portraying disabilities convincingly. Kurt Yaeger is an actor, producer, and activist for disability rights in entertainment. He’s faced double standards quite a few times in casting processes after having his lower leg is amputated. Yaeger has been in NCIS, Sons of Anarchy, L.A.’s Finest, and Netflix’s Another Life.
