Guest: Keith O’Brien, Author, “Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History” When you think of the women who helped pioneer flight, you probably think of Amelia Earheart. But she was not the only female pilot in the early 1900s shattering records in the sky. A handful of others were just as famous – and some were even better pilots - Ruth Nichols, Louise Thaden, Ruth Elder. They were known as the “Fly Girls,” which is the title of journalist Keith O’Brien’s new book.
