The National Park Service is meant to preserve America's wild spaces. But climate change is making it hard to preserve some native species of plants and animals. So how can parks decide what changes to resist and which they should simply accept? These questions are forcing the National Park Service to embrace an approach called “Climate Smart Conservation.” It was pioneered by Bruce Stein, who is chief scientist at the National Wildlife Federation.
