Plastic Clothes

The plastic bags you use to haul stuff from the grocery store are useful but are also a nightmare when it comes to the environment. What if those bags could be recycled into something useful, like clothing? MIT engineers, including Svetlana Boriskina, think they’ve got the right formula to turn flimsy grocery bags into shoes and hoodies that are waterproof and breathable. (Photo from the researchers)
