Preventing Childhood Death and Malnutrition with Small Food Supplements

There’s a kind of peanut-butter food supplement called Plumpy’Nut that’s been distributed for 30 years in impoverished countries to treat malnutrition. But it’s not designed for babies—and the problem with that is that being malnourished during the first years of life can permanently stunt a child’s physical and neurological development. We’re talking here about the difference between preventing malnutrition and treating it once it’s already set in.
