Just like the problem of bacteria developing resistance to antibiotics and becoming superbugs, there’s an accelerating problem of superweeds in agriculture. Every season, farmers in the US find their weed-killing chemicals work less well at controlling plants that can choke out their crops. If herbicides were no longer effective, uncontrolled weeds could cause tens of billions of dollars of crop losses for American farmers every year. Anita Dille, a professor of weed ecology at Kansas State University, discusses solutions. (Segment produced by Sam Faulconer)
