New England’s famous fishing has become more erratic over the years. But in the cold waters off Maine’s coast, there’s an experiment underway to farm scallops. This could take pressure off New England’s declining fish populations and struggling market. The nonprofit Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership, directed by Phoebe Jekielek, is helping establish best practices for scallop farming. Jekielek is also a Ph.D. student at the University of Maine. (Segment produced by Aubrey Johnson)
