The Taliban is now in control of Afghanistan—twenty years after the US drove the militant Islamist group from power in Kabul. Part of America’s justification for that initial invasion after the 9/11 terror attacks was to rescue the women of Afghanistan from the Taliban’s oppressive rule. But this time around, the Taliban has claimed it’s different. The organization says it will form an inclusive government and maintain some rights for women. Afghan women and international human rights activists worry the Taliban won’t make good on those promises. Among them is Mona Tajali, a professor of international relations and women’s studies at Agnes Scott College. (Segment produced by Sydney Jezik) (AP Photo/Rahmat Gul, File)
