American cemeteries are running out of room, forcing a major shift in funeral trends. Cremations seem to be the new preferred option, which requires less space in cemeteries. Urban planning expert David Sloane has documented a shift away from cemeteries and traditional mourning practices over the last several decades in America. He’s a professor at the University of Southern California and author of “Is the Cemetery Dead?”
