Lloyd, Retired US Army, Director of Veteran’s History Project Earlier this month marked the 75th anniversary of V-E Day, when Nazi Germany surrendered, and World War II effectively ended in Europe. US Navy Commander Ed Godwin remembers going ashore in Liverpool, England when the announcement was made that the war in Europe had ended. Commander Godwin’s story is archived in the Veterans History Project at the United States Library of Congress.
