Guest: Patrick Cook-Deegan, Mindfulness Instructor
“Usually when it sticks is when a teenager has one instance outside of the class that changes their life,” says Cook-Deegan.
“As a young guy, I got mad all the time, I used to break things, get really mad, similar to the kids I teach. Mindfulness helps you recognize the feeling,” says Cook-Deegan, “and then allows you to respond. I think of it like an oncoming train. You can see a train coming in, you can let the train hit you (get really angry) or you can move off the tracks.”
