Helping an Addict (0:00:00) The effects of addiction can spread to every aspect of life--from employment to relationships. Those consequences are easy to see, but what about the financial consequences? How much does addiction cost financially, and how can we help those that we love without paying the price? Here to tell us all about it is John Collopy, a successful real estate broker, who has had his own experiences with battling addiction. Natural History Museums (0:14:09) As parents sometimes we want to take our kids somewhere fun, but where they can also learn something. Natural history museums are a great option, not only do they offer classes and different educational programs, but there’s usually something to entertain the whole family! Leslie Mueller, the creator, producer and host of the show Museum Access, is here to talk to us about these different programs and exhibits at natural history museums and how we can access them. New York City 18 Years Ago Today (0:34:40) Today we solemnly remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor those that lost their lives in the attacks, and those that risked their lives to save those in danger. We all experienced that day of tragedy around the globe, but for some, it happened right in their own neighborhood. Glen Nelson, a New York City resident of 35 years joins us now to give a glimpse of what that day was like in the heart of the city, and to share how he saw people unite in a time of extreme tragedy. Getting Along with Siblings (0:50:36) Siblings can be your best friends and your worst enemies. When you fought as kids, you just went to your room without dinner. But when you fight with your siblings as adults... the consequences can be disastrous and even have effects that last a lifetime. So how can we maintain our adult sibling relationships and heal old wounds? Here to talk us through it, is someone who knows a lot about being a sister—my sister—Gina James, mother, educator and dear friend of the Lisa Show. Chase Purpose, Not Money (1:06:34) We live in an abundant society that carries with it many pressures to keep up. In our minds, this type of wealth often means making enough money to have an awe-striking house, a gym membership, piano lessons for our kids, a beautifully-kept pool, and even having a flawless hair-do and nail job. All this pressure and focus on money causes far too much stress, so how can we redefine wealth? Patrice Washington is committed to redefining the term “wealth”, using its original meaning, “well-being.” She encourages people to have “wealth” in all aspects of their lives by pursuing their purpose, being fulfilled, and earning more without ever chasing money. Healing the Impossible (1:27:24) Have you ever felt the frustration of going to the doctor with a problem and not being able to figure out what’s wrong? According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 30 million Americans are affected by undiagnosed diseases. So, what do you do when your doctor can’t help? Dr. Shiroko Sokitch, author of "Healing When It Seems Impossible –7 Keys to Defy the Odds," gives us some advice regarding what alternative options there are for this kind of a situation.
