Important conversations and encouraging words to help you make every day a great one. Motivating Kids (00:00) How do you make someone want to behave? Trick question—they probably already want to behave, but just lack the skills to do so. Dr. J. Stuart Ablon says the answer to good behavior doesn’t lie in motivating a desire, but in building the necessary skills for good behavior through a Collaborative Problem-Solving approach. Dr. J. Stuart Ablon is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Director of Think: Kids in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has written several books on Collaborative Problem-Solving, including his latest book, Changeable: How Collaborative Problem Solving Changes Lives at Home, at School, and at Work. Little Women (18:55) Clare Nederpreum has been an assistant director on the award-winning film series, Mythica, and has headed the production design for over five feature films. She has worked in costuming as well, and has had tremendous success as an actress in lead roles in over 8 feature films with worldwide distribution including Thirst, Nocturne, and Once I Was a Beehive. Clare Nederpruem has her directorial debut in the adaptation of the classic Little Women, now playing in theaters. As if that weren’t impressive enough, she also wrote the screenplay. Clare and Lisa discuss Little Women and Clare’s personal creative process. Successful Online Dating (48:39) Online dating doesn’t have a great reputation. With the opportunity to meet so many new people online, you’d think it would be easier to find someone you connect with, but instead it seems like it’s harder to connect than ever. But don’t give up yet—online dating doesn’t have to suck, you just might need some tips to help you sort through it all. Christina Wallace is the vice president of Growth Bionic and the founder of BridgeUp: STEM, an education program at the American Museum of Natural History. She is also a freelance writer and the co-host of The Limit Does Not Exist, a Forbes podcast which focuses on the intersection of STEM and creativity. Favorite Books and Prince (1:05:32) Kacy Faulconer and Lisa talk about their favorite books as kids, what’s required for a book to become a classic, and what, exactly, it means for artists and for fans that Prince has a posthumous studio album.
