One of BYU's most elite choirs performs at BYU's Madsen Recital Hall, under the direction of Rosalind Hall. Brigham Young University Concert Choir comprises 100 advanced singers who are committed to a challenging choral experience. This very select ensemble has acquired an outstanding reputation for its captivating performances of a wide variety of repertoire taken from the great choral literature, encompassing many different styles and genres. Recorded in BYU's Madsen Recital Hall, on this special travelling version of Highway 89 we get to hear the talented choir in their home environment! The choir was organized in 1984 for Mack Wilberg, who has also written a number of songs and arrangements for the ensemble. When Wilberg left BYU in 1999 to become an assistant conductor for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Rosalind Hall stepped in to conduct the Concert Choir. They've performed at the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) convention and with the Utah Symphony. Steven Kapp Perry chats with director Rosalind Hall as well as a couple choir members, who perform the entirety of their set tonight a capella with the exception of tone chimes played in the opening number! Repertoire: Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming - Michael Praetorious; Weihnachten - Felix Mendehlssohn; Crossing the Bar - Donald Campbell & Alfred Lord Tennyson; Amazing Grace - arr.
