Recognizing Human Trafficking (0:00:00) Human trafficking is a terrifying reality for many people across the globe. It is estimated that between 18,000 and 20,000 victims are trafficked into the United States every year. But there are miraculous stories of people saving trafficking victims from dangerous situations. You might never find yourself in a situation where you have to save a victim, but there is power in being aware of the situation and knowing what to look for so you can save lives before it’s too late. Here to teach us more about human trafficking and how we can help is Megan Cutter, acting director of the National Human Trafficking Hotline, here to talk with us about how to fight human trafficking. Tried and True Moms (0:12:47) I love to find a good deal. However, bargain hunting can often be tiring and tedious. Not only that, but it can be hard to know if the deal you are getting is good quality. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone told you where to go to find a deal and gave their stamp of approval for it? Well this was Heidi Hachtman’s idea. Heidi is the co-founder of Tried and True Moms , and she is here to talk about her best deal finding advice. Helping Neighbors Through Facebook (0:34:41) People all around us are experiencing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, some more than others. There are so many needs in all our communities including the need for medical masks, financial support for those who have lost their jobs, groceries for the elderly, and even toilet paper. We want to help our neighbors, and Facebook has come up with a unique way we can lend a hand or reach out for support in our own community. So, joining us today is Emily Dalton Smith, the Director of Social Impact Product at Facebook, to talk about Facebook’s new feature “ Community Help” which is helping people find the resources they need to get through this pandemic. Quarantine Weddings (0:50:36) With coronavirus still at large, many people are finding major life events being cancelled. This includes the cancellation of many weddings. Many people have been planning their big days for months, even years, and hoped to have a big celebration with friends and families. But with social gatherings limited to 10 people or less... engaged couples are having to reconsider their plans. But how do you just cancel your wedding, and is there any way to move forward amidst this pandemic and still celebrate your special day? Here to recommend what love birds can do moving forward is Budget Wedding Expert, Jessica Bishop. Special Education at home (1:05:03) All of our kids are being affected by schools closing, but our kids with special needs are being especially affected. Their support system has completely changed, which is something they really need. Jennie Dopp is the Development Coordinator for the Utah Parent Center, an organization dedicated to helping special needs children and their families. With the world being turned upside down, we thought it would be important to have a conversation with Jennie about where special needs families can turn for help during this time. You can see how the UPC is making a difference here. Weekend Review (1:22:58) Lisa and Richie talk about what there is to watch and do this weekend while most of the country is stuck at home. Rudy Ruettiger (1:31:26) Rudy Ruettiger, author and former college football player whose experience was the subject of the film, “Rudy,” talks with Lisa and Richie about what new projects he’s working on, including his new podcast, "Rise Above with Rudy."
