Did your parents ever sit you down for a talk about racism? If you’re white, probably not. But most kids of color grow up talking about racism with their families. The first time they have “The Talk” with their parents, kids of color might be only five or six. Brendan Kiely – who is an award-winning author of books for kids - was an adult by the time he knew The Talk even existed. A lot of white Americans learned about it for the first time when George Floyd’s murder sparked tough conversations about racism. So now Kiely’s written a book to keep that conversation going for teens, their teachers, and parents. It’s called “The Other Talk: Reckoning With Our White Privilege.”
