Video editing technology is improving by leaps and bounds so that it’s sometimes impossible to tell what is real and what is not. These so-called “deepfakes” have begun to pop up in satellite imagery. Image the harm a fake satellite image could do if it's used to spread false stories or create a hoax about a natural disaster.
