Air pollution kills millions of people around the world each year, and more recent research has shown serious and lasting health effects from exposure to air pollution. And according to a new investigation by The Guardian newspaper in the United States and environmental reporter Oliver Milman, oil companies knew about those risks as far back as the 1960s, but they still worked to block pollution regulations and even sponsored research to downplay the risks.
