The students' world gets turned upside down shortly after the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion that happened only 73 seconds after launch. Turns out children watching at school were the largest audience to view that disaster live. Bringing Columbia Home Guests: Mike Leinbach, NASA’s final Space Shuttle Launch Director at the Kennedy Space Center; Jonathan Ward, author, Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, and executive coach at the Center for Creative Leadership. Both are co-authors of “Bringing Columbia Home: The Untold Story of a Lost Space Shuttle and Her Crew” On February 1, 2003, the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated on re-entry, killing all seven astronauts aboard and scattering debris over rural areas in East Texas.
