It's quite a sight walking into the Mile High Youth Corps warehouse based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. There are all kinds of tools hanging on the back wall, from rakes and shovels to post-diggers and loppers. Big, Costco-style shelves line the warehouse. They’re filled to the brim with boxes full of essentials; camping gear, propane tanks, chainsaws, and more. Upstairs is a room filled with gear corps members can borrow and food for hitches, the 4-9 day work weeks that make up a season at Mile High Youth Corps. There’s an office found on the first floor where the people that keep MHYC running work to plan the logistics of each work crew. Here with us today is the Program Coordinator for Mile High Youth Corps’ Land Conservation program, Emily Holmes.
