Music and Emotional Regulation  (0:00:00) Is music only for our ears? According to many decades of research, music can be used as a powerful emotional regulation tool. Sounds are a large part of how we perceive the world, so how do we take control of what we listen to and use it to our advantage as a coping mechanism? Genote Lab, an organization dedicated to music therapy, has set out to discover the effect of music structure on emotional responses. We are joined by Dr. Massimiliano Frani, a composer, pianist, and music pedagogue who founded the  Genote Lab.  Running a Business with your Spouse  (0:17:18) Alysha Milligan, the CMO of  Legacy Fables, a choose-your-own-adventure style game studio and online store, joins us to talk about what it’s like to work with your spouse. She and her husband started the company this year, and we’ve invited her here to talk to us about how to be a full-time employee as well as a wife and mother.  Red Flags with Job Offers  (0:34:01) Imagine this: You’re heading in to work on your first day at your dream job. You’re nervous, but you’re too excited to let the nerves ruin your mood. You walk into the doors, get to work, and it doesn’t take long before you realize that this job is nothing like what you thought it would be. Where did you go wrong? How could you have known it would be so different? What could you have done differently?  Josh Doody, salary negotiation coach and expert in job interview strategy, joins us to share how we can identify red flags in job offers and make sure we get the job that we want.  Recycling Week  (0:50:34) We all know it’s important to recycle, and we want to recycle--but did you know that there’s a wrong way to do it? That when you put something in your recycling bin there’s a chance you might be doing more harm than good? A new study shows that putting trash in recycling bins costs the US recycling system more than $300 million dollars each year. Now we don’t want to discourage anyone from recycling—so in honor of American Recycling Week we’ve got Keefe Harrison, CEO of the  Recycling Partnership here to tell us how we can make a difference with our trash. Recycling Myths  (1:00:54) It’s 2019, and we still have questions about recycling. Will it save the planet or is it lulling us into a false sense of complacency? And, are we even doing it right? Kathryn Kellogg is the founder of  Going Zero Waste and author of  “101 Ways to Go Zero Waste.” She’s also the spokesperson for National Geographic on plastic-free living. She joins us to talk about recycling myths.   Customer Service Problems  (1:17:27) You’ve been on the phone for at least 45 minutes, and you’ve heard the same elevator music loop at least 100 times. It’s almost not even worth it to wait and talk to someone – you know another machine will probably answer again this time and redirect you. It’s just so frustrating! Why is customer service so bad these days?  Amas Tenumah is a customer service expert and owner of a consultancy that helps companies improve their employee and customer experience. So, whether you’re the customer or the business owner, he has some helpful things to tell you. Smart Garages  (1:33:42) We have smartphones, smart TVs, and smart cars, but have you heard of smart garages? Making your garage smart could actually help ensure that you receive your packages this holiday season.  But what does having a smart garage entail?  Director of Delivery Tyler Leczuk and mother/daughter home renovation duo  Karen Laine and Mina Starsiak are with us to tell us everything we need to know about the benefits of smart garages.
