One major problem with chemotherapy is that to kill the cancer cells, the treatment also kills lots of healthy cells, too. Radiation is used to treat cancer in a localized area in the body. But wouldn’t it be so much better if the drug could float harmlessly in the body until it sensed a cancer cell and only then would it turn toxic? University of Delaware chemists are one step closer to making that a reality.
