Famous ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau co-invented SCUBA diving and built the first underwater research habitat where scientists lived and work for weeks at a time back in the 1960s. Now his grandson, Fabien Cousteau, is planning to build a much larger underwater research laboratory with room for 12 scientists to live and work much longer at the bottom of the sea. He envisions it as a kind of international space station in the ocean - it's called "Proteus." (Photo courtesy of The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center)
