The snow is crunching beneath the sled’s runners as it flies along the white terrain. You can hear the dogs panting up ahead as they race along this pristine landscape. You can’t remember the last time you felt your toes. Starting in Anchorage, Alaska, the goal is to race 1,000 miles in the Iditarod over the next 8-15 days to reach Nome, Alaska with a team of 14 dogs. Larry Daugherty is here with us to describe what’s it’s like to be a musher in the Iditarod not just once, but four times.
