Smellicopter: A Drone that Uses a Real Moth Antenna to SmellTop of Mind with Julie Rose • Season 1, Episode 1784, Segment 3
Jun 14, 2022 • 18m
Researchers at the University of Washington are developing a drone that they hope will be able to sniff out chemicals. Sensors that can do this aren’t new or unusual – think of the carbon monoxide detector in your house. But how this drone senses the chemicals is just bizarre — an antenna harvested from a real moth. Melanie Anderson worked on the device they call the “Smellicopter.” (Segment Produced by Sam Faulconer)
