AUKUS is the new alliance between Australia, the UK, and the US. Hence AUKUS. The announcement two weeks ago set off an international dispute with France, which angrily recalled its ambassadors to the US and Australia. Daniel Baer, a senior fellow in the Europe Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, takes a look at what this agreement does and why it makes France so angry.
