Just about every day, we post a full, hour-long episode of The Apple Seed, as well as something a little extra -- something bite-sized. And sometimes, we like to use this "Extra" space to bring you another version, by another teller, of a story that you heard in the full episode. Some of these folk stories grew up in the mouths of multiple tellers over hundreds of years, and while individual storytellers may own the recordings of their own performances of the stories (recoreings they've generously shared with The Apple Seed), nobody owns the tales themselves. As such, great stories can often be heard in the mouths of many terrific tellers. In today's full episode of The Apple Seed, you heard Laura Bobrow share a classic: The Frog Prince. As an Apple Seed Extra, we'd like to bring you another version of that story -- this one told by Ed Stivender, the wonderful Philadelphia storyteller. Ed's version is a delight partly because he casts the story of The Princess and the Frog as though it's a lost Shakespeare play.
