Solar FlaresTop of Mind with Julie Rose • Season 1, Episode 1512, Segment 3
Jan 15, 2021 • 15m
Periodically, the sun burps out giant bursts of radiation, and sometimes they hit the earth dead on, where they cause problems with electronics. University of Michigan space physicist Justin Kasper is leading a NASA mission to better understand how solar flares happen–and hopefully give us some advance warning when one is headed our way. (Originally aired Apr 8, 2020).
