The plastic bags you use to haul stuff from the grocery store are useful but also a nightmare for the environment. What if those bags could be recycled into something useful, like clothing? Plastic clothes sound awfully impractical, but MIT research scientist Svetlana Boriskina and other engineers think they’ve got the right formula to turn flimsy grocery bags into shoes and hoodies that are waterproof and breathe-able.
