Although unpleasant, pain is our skin's way to warn us of danger. Prosthetics, however, still can’t sense feelings like pain—until now. Madhu Bhaskaran, a professor of electronic and telecommunications engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, led the effort to develop artificial skin that reacts to pain.
