On February 22, 2012, Kristopher Clarke went missing from the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. As authorities fought over jurisdiction, Lissa Yellow Bird stepped up to do her own search. Careful (and sometimes unconventional) modes of investigation brought to light a hidden murder conspiracy and a a culture of lawlessness amidst the oil boom.
