Have you ever gotten so sucked into a social media rabbit hole that every post and video seem to be about the same thing? And what’s worse is that they all seem to be saying the exact same thing? Since the release of the Netflix original, “The Social Dilemma” there has been an increased awareness and concern about the algorithms social media platforms use to engage their users. These algorithms seek to keep users on their platform as long as possible by feeding them more personalized posts. Though great for easy and quick entertainment, these echo chambers can be the source of serious misunderstandings and severe confirmation bias.
