Also the US is involved in some thorny negotiations over what to do with a captured ISIS fighter who has dual American and Saudi citizenship. Right now the US would really like to drop him off in Syria and be done with him. Also this week, Congress passed its annual Defense Authorization Act which charts a course for the coming year’s $700 billion in defense budget. Even as President Trump signed the bill, he said he had no intention of following many of the provisions in it. What should be understood from these recent events?
